History Rich and Fun Filled

A Sierra Tradition Since 1927
``In all things of nature there is something of the marvelous`` - Aristotle

Located in Pinecrest, California, guests have been seeking adventure at Camp Sylvester for over 90 years. Founded in 1927 by Stanislaus and San Joaquin County farmers, its first incarnation was as a “pitch your tent” camp for farm groups and youth clubs. Named after Henry Sylvester, a longtime 4-H Youth Advisor, the camp still plays home to 4-H and FFA summer camps every year.

In 1946, the Stanislaus County Farm Bureau took ownership for Camp Sylvester. Since then, the Bureau has maintained the grounds and hosted educational summer camps. The group has refurbished the camp’s 26 buildings and completed an all new 3,500 square foot dining hall and commercial kitchen after a devastating storm in December 2006.

Camp Sylvester is a volunteer based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that sustains educational and recreational rental camp facilities for use by youth organizations, university, families, weddings and special events alike.

Camp Sylvester was established to provide the best possible camp experience at the lowest possible price. Call today to learn more about how our friendly staff can help make your next event or celebration a success.

We had a great time, the Camp Manager was great. We are looking forward to next year. The ability to ‘spread out’ across many cabins makes this a nice trip for the Scouts and families. The ‘mom’s’ loved Sierra Cabin.
What a fantastic wedding…thanks to the facilities it was beyond breathtaking.
My school took a field trip to Camp Sylvester and that was the best school trip ever!
The facilities were great for us to cook our own meals.
Camp looks great, the Camp Managers are doing a great job.
Everything was great, we are looking forward to returning next year.
